Hana la Yazida. L'inferno è sulla Terra
Claudia Ryan
Hana the Yazida. Hell is on Earth
Hana, a young Yazidi woman, a nurse in Duhok hospital, was in Sinjar on 3 August 2014 to visit her family, when ISIS guerrillas arrived. On that occasion, like many other women of the Yazidi minority, she lost her brother, her mother, and does not know where her sister went, who, like her, was taken prisoner and then sold as a slave.
After very painful events Hana manages to escape and save herself from her tormentor.
The story tells of her in her present, while she lives in Duhok and works in the Khanke refugee camp. She works hard but it is so difficult. She has to deal with her inner wounds due to the torture suffered by Daesh, the black men of ISIS, who have abused her several times, and with her desire to find a glimmer of deserved happiness.
Her story, rich in details, becomes a picture of Kurdistan's life and society. It allows the reader to enter into the soul of a people, to live indirectly the war events of those tormented days.
A current novel, which Claudia Ryan wrote after being in Iraqi Kurdistan and having interviewed those women who, taken prisoner by the Daesh, were enslaved and then managed to escape.
An engaging and moving story, written in a fluent language, which highlights the sufferings and hopes of women and the Yazidi population.
